Why 2025 Was the Year Alkagesta Anchored in Singapore
Alkagesta chose Singapore for its Asia-Pacific hub because geography, regulation and timing lined up at once. The company announced the move in September 2025, and the office, Alkagesta Asia Pte Ltd, joined a network already spanning Malta, London, Geneva and Dubai.

Geography came first. Singapore sat at the meeting point of the main east–west shipping routes and handled nearly 20% of global container traffic, as Fintech News Singapore noted when it covered the expansion. CEO Orkhan Rustamov put it simply: "Singapore is where Asian markets converge with global capital."
Regulation came second. The city-state offered a legal and governance framework close to European norms, which meant the compliance model Alkagesta had built in Malta — KYC/AML, vessel and counterparty screening, zero tolerance on sanctions — could operate without dilution. ScandAsia framed this as the point of the whole exercise.
Timing came third. Alkagesta had been active in Singapore since 2020 through cargo arbitrage, and demand for structured, compliant fuel supply in the region was rising. Within months of opening, the marine fuels desk reached 180,000 MT in December 2025, per Ship & Bunker, with a 250,000 MT monthly target in view.
IPS News quoted board member Pierre Gay calling Singapore "a test of credibility." The team followed through with site work such as Alkagesta at Horizon Terminal Singapore, Jurong Island and market analysis in Singapore Marine Fuels 2026: Supply Resilience.
