Alkagesta has been featured in Biofuels International following the publication of record first-half results for 2026, with the Malta-headquartered commodity trader reporting the strongest half-year performance in its history.

Revenue reached $3.5 billion (€3 billion) for the first six months of the year, achieved despite continued volatility across global commodities markets. Based on current trading activity, Alkagesta expects full-year 2026 trading volumes to exceed 10 million metric tonnes, up from 8.7 million metric tonnes in 2025.

Disciplined Growth Through Market Volatility

Chief Executive Officer Orkhan Rustamov said the figures reflected a measured approach to expansion: "These results reflect the progress we have made through a measured and disciplined approach to growth. Despite significant volatility across global commodities markets, our focus has remained on serving our clients reliably and building our business on strong, long-term relationships."

Crude Entry and Jet Fuel Expansion

The coverage pointed to a targeted entry into the crude market and a ramping up of jet fuel trading volumes, broadening a portfolio that already spans petroleum products, fertilisers, biofuels and steel.

Storage Capacity Reaches 700,000m³

Alkagesta has also increased its storage and logistical capacity, including a multi-year agreement signed earlier this year for biofuel storage at Pantank in Antwerp. That deal brought the company's total storage capacity across Europe and Asia to 700,000m³, supporting supply reliability for customers in both regions.
