Alkagesta Promotes Anthony Guida to Lead Biofuels Trading Desk
Alkagesta has appointed Anthony Guida as the Head of its Biofuels Trading Desk, recognising his instrumental role in expanding the company's biofuels division since its inception.

Alkagesta has announced the promotion of Anthony Guida to lead its Biofuels Trading Desk. This appointment acknowledges Guida's pivotal contributions to establishing and scaling the company's biofuels division, which commenced operations last year.
Guida, who is based in Alkagesta's Geneva office, joined the firm in January 2025. Since then, he has developed a comprehensive trading operation that covers the entire biofuels value chain. This initiative connects specialised feedstock and waste-oil producers with established European refiners of biodiesel, Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), as detailed by Alkagesta.
Certification and Strategic Expansion
A significant milestone in Alkagesta's biofuels strategy was achieving ISCC CORSIA certification in January 2026. This certification enables the company to trade and supply SAF that is eligible under the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). Concurrently, Alkagesta secured a multi-year offtake contract in Malta and Italy and established storage capabilities at Pantank's Antwerp terminal. Further expanding its equity barrel volumes, the company invested in a used cooking oil processing facility, increasing volumes from 734 tonnes to 1,860 tonnes.
Guida characterised these developments as creating "a certified, structured, and scalable biofuels trading platform." The ISCC CORSIA certification has also facilitated Alkagesta's entry into the jet fuel market, providing commercial access to NATO's Central European Pipeline System. This access allows the company to reach airports in Germany and Belgium, with projections to trade approximately 100,000 tonnes in 2026.
Broader Market Engagements
Beyond biofuels and jet fuel, Alkagesta recently completed its initial crude transaction, loading 1.07 million barrels of CPC Blend in the second quarter of 2026 destined for the Far East. This move follows a period of balance-sheet strengthening and increasing support from international financial institutions.
Anthony Guida brings a decade of experience in energy markets to his new leadership role. His career includes positions at S&P Global Platts, Phillips 66, and PETRONAS. His background spans crude oil market analysis, strategy, and business development across crude, biofuels, and carbon markets, providing a broad expertise to Alkagesta's expanding operations.
