French engineering firm Technip Energies has been appointed to an enhanced project management consultant (ePMC) role for the Amigo LNG project, a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal located in Guaymas, Sonora, on Mexico's West Coast.

Offshore Energy reports that Technip Energies was selected by Amigo LNG, a joint venture formed by Texas-based Epcilon LNG and Singapore's LNG Alliance. This assignment marks Technip Energies' first project with LNG Alliance and its second global ePMC contract for an FLNG development.

Project Management and Integration

Under the ePMC agreement, Technip Energies will provide overall project management, engineering interface management, and construction management. The company will also deliver independent project oversight throughout the development phase. Furthermore, Technip Energies is designated as the key technical and integration partner for the project's stakeholders, contractors, and execution entities.

The ePMC scope encompasses the full 6 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) LNG liquefaction facility. This facility is designed to incorporate two floating process barges: one for pre-treatment and another for liquefaction. Technip Energies will provide overall project management consulting oversight for both barges and their integration.

Facility Scope and Capacity

The Amigo LNG project's scope also includes oversight of associated marine facilities. These include a quad berth designed to accommodate two LNG carriers and two floating storage units (FSUs), along with the related berthing, mooring, utilities, and export infrastructure. The Amigo LNG export facility is designed with a capacity to export up to 7.8 million tonnes per annum of LNG.

The project has secured several long-term sales and purchase agreements. Following an initial 20-year agreement with Sahara Group, Gunvor signed a deal to acquire 0.85 mtpa of LNG for two decades. International Resources also committed to a 20-year deal for 1 mtpa.
