Worley Secures Five-Year Renewal for CNOOC International North Sea Assets
Worley, an Australian engineering firm, has secured a five-year contract renewal with CNOOC International, continuing its support for North Sea offshore operations on the UK Continental Shelf.
Australia's engineering firm, Worley, has obtained a five-year renewal of its engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) framework agreement with CNOOC International's UK business. This agreement extends Worley's role in supporting CNOOC's offshore operations on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS).
The renewed contract covers key assets including the Scott, Buzzard, and Golden Eagle fields. Worley's scope of work encompasses a range of services from engineering, procurement, and construction to commissioning, completions, and decommissioning. These services apply to various projects, from like-for-like replacements to complex brownfield modifications and larger project scopes.
Extended Partnership Details
According to the company, over the past 12 years, Worley has completed more than 1,100 scopes of work under the previous framework agreement. This work assisted CNOOC in maintaining the integrity and performance of its offshore assets. Worley stated that this "proven delivery record, combined with deep asset knowledge," allows it to provide efficient solutions that aim to minimise operational disruption and maximise value. The company also highlighted its safety record, having executed over five million work hours without a lost time incident in 12 years.
Graham Swan, Senior Vice President, UK, Worley, commented on the renewal, stating it "highlights the strength of our long-standing partnership with CNOOC and the consistent performance of our team in the North Sea." He added that as offshore assets mature, operators are increasingly seeking flexible delivery models that balance operational performance, asset integrity, and long-term value, and Worley is positioned to deliver these.
Regional Energy Supply Chain Commitment
As reported by Offshore Energy, the award reinforces Worley's long-term commitment to the North Sea and the Aberdeen area. This continued partnership is expected to support the ongoing development of the regional energy supply chain.
This renewal follows Worley's recent completion of front-end engineering designs (FEEDs) for two critical infrastructure packages in the development of Inpex's Abadi LNG project. This project is anticipated to contribute to Indonesia's energy security and support its net zero 2060 goals.
